THE BATTLE OF SPOTSYLVANIA COURT HOUSE

VIRGINIA – MAY 8-21, 1864

The 13 day battle soon devolved into a stalemate. On Saturday evenings, however, soldiers on both sides lay down their arms and traveled to Todd’s Tavern. There, they listened to the Grand Ole Opry coming from a giant transistor radio, and thus relieved their boredom.
